Secret Garden- flower Coloring

Hi everyone,

This has to be a small post, just to try to keep you updated, and share the fun and joyful moments of coloring this Secret Garden book, along with Lost Ocean. Trying what to me is new coloring media, being frustrated at awful result at times followed by repetitive come back to my comfort zone that is crochet I am done that crochet top, still working on a crochet lace blouse and a dress for myself. Turns out my daughter is not really interested in dressing crochet for the moment, and given the fact that she is so proud of her colored purse whenever she feels like it I can whip her something nice.

So here is my latest finalized coloring page, I used only Polychromos as I am infatuated with it. So what happened is that my daughter loved stage  number 2, my husband stage 3, I was divided into doing a background from lighter to darker in the outer edges. A couple of days later fate would have it that somehow on a morning there was a blob of some dirty at the upper left top of the page, there I go trying to blend it in and having to actually work on he background. Never leave your art unattended folks. That’s it for now, till very soon!

50 shades of Grey, yes me too

Yes me too,

I went to see the movie today with 3 more friends/ladies 2 of them moms like me, what makes us falls into the book’s category of mom porn which bothered me for several reasons, first I had to go around the fact that I would force myself to find a 27-30 year old guy attractive, being over 40 it never occurred to me, mainly because I tend to find men who are at least old enough not to be almost my kids attractive.

It also bothered me because I am for our rights, I like when my husband opens the car door for me -yep he still does that for almost 20 years- I also like when he does the driving, the wine picking, but that’s pretty much it, never turned on to spanking or any of that. I am surely not into pain and pleasure, but I don’t judge others, who am I to?
So people think I was into that because I both read the Trilogy and went to see the movie? Isn’t that obvious? I read the book series which was lent to me, I got curious and got carried away so the first book lead to the second that had to finish on the third. Then there was the movie let’s go see what they have done to it.

Did I like it?

Neh, too shallow, so you take a book that is not well written-I know I know- but yet captivates millions of women (mainly over 40 like me) and make it even a worse movie? Of course that was more to it than BD&SM, though the movie did not exploit that either, it introduced to it, I think, and did it not show how she was caught in the web of pure seduction, fetishism, fanaticism that is in ‘devoting to a person’s body’. A good illustration to it is this talented musician Sam Smith he goes and writes this song “Stay with me”, nice and all but next sentence he goes like “you are all I need”, cool, but in real life I would run fast and far, this guy would stick to you like a maniac, crazy glue and all, he would call and manipulate you 24/7. This is what it is all about.

Anyway the feeling I had was that they torn the whole book threw the pages into the air and the ones they picked -by chance- were the scenes they decided to write the script out.

Yeah, enough said, it won’t change my mind, as I heard a guy on an interview saying “this book will change your wife”. My life should be pretty empty for that to happen.  I might crochet something based on one of the books, I don’t know yet maybe the cover of the book or something, not a whip though for sure.

What I liked about the book is the complexity of character and the innocent girl thinking she could ‘rescue’ him, she kind of did, because it is fiction and ‘love’ prevailed, and the way he worships her all through the trilogy. Some of us women have tried to love and save the bad guy we were once with, and we all know what happens. We can’t. We just don’t have this power.

Bottom line is I come back home, after a nice time out with my friends, to my dear beloved hard to have found husband, lover, and friend who unquestionably showed me 50-whole- colors of love and being loved-not only shades.

You take care,

Drikka.

Huge hug and a hundred smiles… here comes 2014!

Hugs and smiles, that’s how I was saluted when I finally got back to the weekly meeting my husband takes part in, as his post doctoral research up here in Canada I had being away for over 2 months, too much huh?

We’ve been here for a period of 2 years and 4 months now. My daughter couldn’t be happpier as she now has friends who seem more like relatives, they are so bond together, fight and play almost daily, just like friends and sort of like family tends to be.

I am doing well at my job, I started off as a sales associate, and moved on to another position that gives me a little bit more of flexibility. I liked the idea of having a place to go, making some money to help with the bills, and still be able to take care of my daughter. That was the plan. I got acquainted with some people that I like to call “friends” it is good for my heart.

My life has turned around from being a busy ESL instructor in Companies (back home in São Paulo), who made a significant amount of money weekly for over 20 years and did not work so hard, to this.

Along with that I still volunteer, which allows me to get in touch with what I really like that is teaching, I read with the kids, we do some work, it is fun.So I also take part of the teachers on their weekly meetings to stay tuned and speak the same language, one can never learn enough of what it is this passion that is being a teacher. It is a breath of fresh air to me.

There we go my dear friends, one more year here unfolding at our very own feet, right here, right this minute, what will become of it depends on many factors, such as decisions we make, resolutions, our fate, our faith, the steps we actually take. Above all and yet within us I strongly believe there is God.

So HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OF US!

                                    Be happy my friends,

                                           Be crafty!

Glaser Crafts in a Festival!

Hello my friends,

Yes, that’s it, finally the day that I had been getting ready for arrived the Oliver Community Festival!

Last Saturday we witnessed the most clement weather, one would think we are strong prayers since it rained the whole entire past week, but on Saturday I could swear it was going to rain. Instead the nicest bright vivid Sun come out.

As if saying , “Go you guys do not fret, I’ll give you this break.” So the day was a bless.

I had cold feet, won’t pretend. I got prepared with loads of handmade jewelry, it didn’t make me any good, there were 4 other jewelry stands in there. And mine was …say humble. ’till I remembered that there was a substantial difference in my products. They were all part of me, who I am and what I have become as a craftswoman. There are HANDMADE.

So I quickly wrote this on a piece of paper see? -Yeah, that’s the paper.

From that moment on I said to myself, there, there is nothing else I can do. I sat down took my hook, my yarn and the beautiful flower I was working on. This was enough to have people crossing the street to take a closer look at my hand made work, they would at least praise me, and comment with their friends.

I got flattered, so even if I did not make as many sales as I was hoping to, I got an immense sense of gratitude, in the sense that people recognized my work. They also ordered some items, and believe me as for the crochet, I sold my beautiful flowers. As I was making them. Again my first time, I had no proper pins for them but quickly arranged some of my sewing ones (I keep in the emergency kit in my purse) to attach at the back.

That is soo good. I’ll let you with some of the pictures I took right before the event, promise to post some more!

Love and Soul

It is not rare to me to find the need to talk about LOVE, to its largest extent. Say I love Love.

Love does hurt sometimes, though we usually find out later that was not love but Passion. And yet passion is a practice to love.

Unconditional love is almost impossible, for if my beloved husband has an affair this to me will not be acceptable.

Eternal love is desirable, though as the years fly by people change, so if you do not find the reason why you too are hung together, there might be a chance that the person you became, or the other party, will tear up what once was the reason for being together.

We change. The Universe changes. So bearing this and so many other topics relate to this in -my- mind I would like to invite you to follow my new page that has nothing to do with pure material crafts, but a lot to do with the Art of Love, please don’t read a Kama Sutra kind of love for I never learned much about it.

Mentioning the books I read and base my ideas upon: by Leo Buscaglia Love, Living Loving Learning, Loving each other,Bus 9 to Paradise and Born to love; Louise Hay  Heal your body, You can heal your life, Heart thoughts, Love your body; Are you the one for me by Barbara D’ Angelis, Men are from Mars women are from Venus by  John Gray, and many others I can’t remember as of now.

So let’s embark this journey I hope to be fun.

I let’s talk about what moves us, our feeling, fears and thoughts. Hoping it to be a pretty interactive page: Pelase visit and bookmark: Love and Soul.

Flower Power

Hello my friends,

Well most of you know about my love for Canada and the Snow from my “odes” last year in my blog, it is still true. As I come from a hot steaming country, I do look up at snow and its beauty.

We are ever so glad to be able to extand our stay here until next year.

Now I am beginning to think that it might be time for some colors, other than white. Anyway the birds are coming back and they bring more life to what was once in a pause so to speak.

Along with the birds, at school we are working on Spring projects and people at my local mall the Londonderry Mall  across the street are starting to purchse and wear more daring colors other than black-white and brown.

Bearing that in mind I started with my Summer projects I found this pattern on line :

And did this little flower,  just added some edging  to them to make them more ruffled. After I’ll make sure to find a good use for it.

I sure made others later on, just need to take some pics.

Crochet in Progress- good old granny part 2

Hello again my dear friends,

I do hope you had the most wonderful weekend, mine was full of kid’s adventures, my daughter had no class due to a teacher convention on Thursday and Friday, so it was a bit of a vacation for us. What brings to the next info; no, I was not able to finish my crochet cushion cover yet.

Even so I was able to fasten off all those crazy pieces of yarn in the back part of it, and since that is what takes longer I believe by tomorrow I’ll be able to show you the last part of my let’s call it “project”, shall we?

Here are the recently uploaded pictures:
