Purple Crochet Cushion Cover

Hi everyone,

Think of the time, it’s been almost one year since I last posted! Reason being I haven’t been up to crocheting  lately.

I haven’t been up to coloring either, because we finally decided to hang out here for longer so last year – in December more precisely we bit the bullet and purchased a townhouse here in Edmonton and between making this a home instead of a house, working a lot at my job, and reading lots of books, I left my other activities dorment for this while, because don’t you dare forget I’m also a mom and wife.

Never mind recently my already pre-teen beautiful daughter asked me to crochet some cushion covers for her bedroom. And I started looking for my long forgotten nonetheless beloved crochet material.

Looking up on Pinterest after so many months had passed has been fun. Here I came across a beautiful thread cushion cover on Simply Crochet magazine and it gave me the necessary boost to re start. Here is how it is coming along.

Thank you for stopping by, next time I come back I’ll show you the final result. I’m making two by the way.

I really mean it when I say I missed you and this cozy corner,

Drikka.

Secret Garden- flower Coloring

Hi everyone,

This has to be a small post, just to try to keep you updated, and share the fun and joyful moments of coloring this Secret Garden book, along with Lost Ocean. Trying what to me is new coloring media, being frustrated at awful result at times followed by repetitive come back to my comfort zone that is crochet I am done that crochet top, still working on a crochet lace blouse and a dress for myself. Turns out my daughter is not really interested in dressing crochet for the moment, and given the fact that she is so proud of her colored purse whenever she feels like it I can whip her something nice.

So here is my latest finalized coloring page, I used only Polychromos as I am infatuated with it. So what happened is that my daughter loved stage  number 2, my husband stage 3, I was divided into doing a background from lighter to darker in the outer edges. A couple of days later fate would have it that somehow on a morning there was a blob of some dirty at the upper left top of the page, there I go trying to blend it in and having to actually work on he background. Never leave your art unattended folks. That’s it for now, till very soon!

Black Crochet Top

Hi everyone,

It has been quite a while I know! I have been working hard, there is always something new to learn, I am getting old from learning, but still crafty!

Between the coloring, crochet family and work my life is been very interesting I should say. Anyway on another time I show you some of the coloring, but now I feel more like showing the crochet top I am working on.It is black as I have to wear black to work, the original is in lavender which I love though black is nice too,

So let me get going I’ll change the sleeves too ’cause i need my coverage against the AC. Hope you like it, I do!

Till the next time,

Thank you for stopping by,

Colouring Books

I know it´s been a long time, I apologize. We have finally been back home to Brazil and back. Before we took off I was looking for something that would keep me busy for most of the time, so I bought myself a nice and Zen coloring book at Chapters West Edmonton Mall right before we checked out, called Colouring Meditation.

I hadn’t coloured in a century, or more, I took some drawing lessons, which I absolutely loved back in 1999 I guess, then I gravitated to painting oil on canvas, loved even more, and because of so many reasons after a few paintings and having a baby not willing to practice at home I put everything to rest, until after she was about 3 when I really started working with colours again that was with my crochet, well it works for me, I can see my hands move about a surface or yarn or thread that has some colour on it and more, create something out of it.

Anyway coming back to my coloring kind of journey, I ended up almost not having to occupy myself in the colouring at that time (mid August) because just the thoughts of being with my mom siblings and beloved ones after so much time did the trick and kept me quite busy.

I started with this in September, but have been more searching for nice ideas and ways of working with these media that are kind of alien to me now. So here are some of my attempts so far not many, I am having fun and even bought that Secret Garden the other day so I can have another go with it. So far I have only been having fun watching lovely tutorials on YouTube. Let’s see…

Here tell me what you think,I also have a few more pictures in my facebook page GlaserCrafts or not but share with me:

Bloomsbury Crochet Top II

Hello again,

I am so excited to be almost done my awesome Bloomsbury crochet top, all there is to it is the left sleeve and blocking. I don’t particularly like to block but in this case because there are so many pieces connected to one another I believe they will look much nicer once relaxed and properly stretched. Of course my daughter asked me for one, which I doubt she will actually wear, but I’ll think about it, for now take a look and let me know, I am aware of how vibrating this yarn’s colours are but for one who HAS to wear black at work I don’t mind embracing a rainbow a bit.

Crochet Bloomsbury Top

Hello you,

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter, as we did, it was quiet and blessed and even though my daughter turned 9 in February the Easter bunny paid her a visit, and life goes on. Despite the challenges Spring break represents for working parents who care about kids having fun and taking a break from school.

I am still at the same job, now for 19 months where I have the opportunity to meet new people everyday and never have a dull moment, it is nice and conveniently closeso yeah, I am still there.

I squeezed in some quality time within my chores and now I am working on this nice project I found in Interweave Crochet Magazine I had for a while now, and also this yarn Unforgettable that mesmerized me by its nice Sunrise colours that I love so much. So I took some shots I don’t like how they came out for the poor lightning, but you can have some idea.

Hope to be done soon and show you more pics.

Thank you for stopping by,

Drikka.

Colorful Crochet purse- final project

So this is it, with no further ado, it finally came to an end:

  • loved its corners, they gave a better shape to it and a better bottom too!
  • at the bottom I did a sort of a seam with the pink row!
  • There is a lining, with a nice couple of pockets,
  • I sewed some buttoms she herself picked to make it even funnier,
  • reinforced the handles,
  • used  some nice cetim ribbon,
  • nice little chiffon flowers in each corner of my granny square.
  • ziper, because every woman -even the 8 year-olds, needs to hide what’s inside their purse…

It was fun and lively to make I had a great time, again for those of you who did know I totally loved a purse form the blog Magic with hooks and needles I loved it she is so super talented, there are a few changes to her project but the idea is all hers.

Dollar Store Scarf Up-graded

I know it has been a long time but my hands are still busy! Hope you are doing fine!

Just because everyone and I mean everyone seems to have at least one item with some animal print, I decided to give it a shot and for nothing less than $1.25 I got a scarf at a local dollar store at the mall where I -still- work.

Though I did not like it at first, it was indeed too plain the poor thing.
I then sewed both ends together twisting it before sewing of course in order to make an infinity scarf. Still not happy I ended up using some kind of elastic to give it a nice flow.
I created an edging that I quite liked -it was quick and fun to make- and sprinkled some sequins (I decided no to use fabric glue, sewing was easier, more secure and faster at that point.
I liked the result and hope you do too!

Crochet Pineapple top- for women

Hi my friends,

I hope you are all doing well, I have to wer black to winork, and plus I’ve always wanted to try this pineapple top I saw the pattern a looooong time ago so I believe 3 to 4 years, I bought a magazine with one variation of the pattern and left is aside. Now I made up my mind but did not want to follow one pattern only, so I kind of made the top with larger pineapple motif and because I thought it might become a little too loose make only chains alond the body I did some variation of stitches, therefore I did not get bored  and it did make my “belly” feel more let’s just say protected. At the bottom I did smaller sizd pineapples and because I did not count the stitches as I went along I had to make  them work in order to have even motif numbers.

Of course I used did 5 chains and 1 sc to finish off at the last row just because it seemed right.

I already had some compliments, but what it best, I loved the final result.

Kids tee -pineapple crochet adventure part 2 and last

So my dear ones,

As I move on my new job, it seems to me I have little time to dedicate to my crochet blogs, though I still save some for my crochet adventures, which include a pineapple top -for myself to wear at work, and the completion of my daughter’s pineapple crochet tee.

I am triyng to figure out a way to take a picture of my top it is nice lacy and black, since I left my mannequim back home in Brazil, I have to find out how to give you an idea of how it looks, meanwhile take a look at the last and final version of the tee.

I Liked this edging for its A line kind of shaping, that I secured would be formed by adding a few more chain stitches and a sort of a V in the row prior to the last one.

I made a flower to go with it and it was a wonderful opportunity for me to make some use of this cute buttom I purchased a long time long ago.

I hope you like it as much as I enjoyed making it, and I followed no pattern since I changed a gazzilion times to accomodate her mood changes and mine as well.
