Black Crochet Top

Hi everyone,

It has been quite a while I know! I have been working hard, there is always something new to learn, I am getting old from learning, but still crafty!

Between the coloring, crochet family and work my life is been very interesting I should say. Anyway on another time I show you some of the coloring, but now I feel more like showing the crochet top I am working on.It is black as I have to wear black to work, the original is in lavender which I love though black is nice too,

So let me get going I’ll change the sleeves too ’cause i need my coverage against the AC. Hope you like it, I do!

Till the next time,

Thank you for stopping by,

Drikka Glaser

Crochet, flowers, Spring is here!

I am doing great, hope you are too!

Recently many things are going on in my life, I am writing a lot, though not in my blogs, I still think it is worth, so I go on pursuing something that I hope I let you know in the (near?) future.

Anyway, it’s inevitable now, since most shops, TV ads, and even the weather (yes, here in Alberta, too) is changing. I know it is supposed to start to become more green, but up here for us things are just less “white”. Never mind though, I love it here, and the feeling of Spring coming back is so invigorating.

So talking about Spring today I got this newsletter with tons of  Spring ideas   -read flowers- and free patterns,  it is from All free Crochet, they are here for us to enjoy!

As you can see I love crocheting flowers! Here is a sample of mine :

I keep trying to post constantly in my Facebook page is a faster for me, it has many images, free patterns I find on the internet and so, if you haven’t “liked it” yet, please do so you will be able to have even more fresh ideas,’ inspiring’ ones as I like to think of them.

They are full of new ideas, and fresh ones that can boost our imagination make us finish off those yarns already used in some other project, so have fun!

Take care,

Drikka.

Early snow and a rainbow crochet hat

Hi everyone,
Yes, it is snowing, I kind of liked it, and part of me is mad at me for not having renewed my driver’s license, luckily the cold weather is above Zero -just above.

Well in the midst of that I managed to make one more cap that I called Rainbow cozy -because of the ear flaps, and hope you like.

Gotta go to bed, it is kind of late you know!

Crochet Pink Muffler

Hello,

The muffler I posted today is an item for the ladies, not that I ran out of kids caps, but just for a change.

I was counting on a bit more of warm sun in this Sunny Alberta, but the weather turned vigorously on us and dropped drastically from 27C last week down to the chilling maximum of  just 10C, wait ther is more tomorrow, they are forecasting SNOW! Wow, this is early, last year it didn’t show up before November 12th! It alright, now we pretty much know what to wear, how to walk on the snow and other things.
I most certainly hope we can have as much fun as we had last year.

I am thinking this humble muffler won’t make it for Alberta’s Fall, but I like it and I it was fun to make, just hope someone is ready to “adopt it” and soon enough start wearing it. Most of all, hope you are fine and come again to meet me another time,

Take care,

Drikka.

Beautiful Blog Award Nomination

I was really delighted by the nomination I recently received from Jeny Jenny at Project Remnant Redo. This award now refers to a Beautiful Blog Award! Considering my blog is a sort of craft blog, I felt so excited about this award!

Glaser Tips new award-

Thank you Jeny! I constantly read her blogs she has a nice one about knitting too, the Wednesday Knitting go take a look at it and I bet you won´t regret!

At last life has come to its usual pace now that my daughter is back to school, a new one by the way. I sure will miss the other one,  the kids and volunteering there. It so happens that this one is nearer and a bit smaller too, in my opinion it will be better for her and considering she already LOVED IT I feel at ease.

So I can resume my crochet projects, and due o my neighbors request  I am engaged in a neat one now a days! Which is crochet for babies! Cute little projects, as you can see in my flickr pics  full of love and grace. I do take kids baby crochet something out of ordinary,  ’cause babies are to be respected and welcomed in our World in every possible way we can,  so with it in mind I tend to produce their apparel with extra love and care.  It did not surprise me when some of my clients wrote me back saying they could feel a good vibration in the piece I had shipped them. That is how I like to work, and that is why I thought it was a good ide to come back producing it. Hope you like the up coming pictures!

Take good care,

Drikka.

Why crochet over knitting

I just love to crochet, it hasn’t always been this way though.

Back when I was in college, and worked as a teacher assistant, I had little time for hobbies (once I had to stay up 2 nights in a row in order to  get ready for some finals).

Whenever I had the chance to go home visit my family, Mom and I liked to sit back, chat and keep our hands busy. At that time I liked knitting much better than crochet ’cause it seemed so much faster, in fact I believe it is, once you get  the hang of it, and have an expert by your side -such as my Mom- to fix those stupid mistakes you may make as you go.

I also had the  feeling that when you are knitting it is as if you are creating an exquisite  piece of fabric. I left crochet for my granny doilies and baby outfits.

Never knew that years later I would be so in to crochet. I adore it, it really became my passion. It all started when I was getting too stressed at work-teaching is enchanting but tiresome – and I wanted to pick up a hobby I could perform while I was with my, then, baby daughter.

I tried to get back to oil painting, too smelly it didn’t work out, then learn how to sew, had no talent, knitting again -ops the needles are too long, pointy and I was not that fast anymore, besides I just couldn’t stop in the middle of the row when the baby needed me.

Then crochet crossed my mind. I thought about making a crochet toy Tasha the hippo in Backyardigans cartoon for my daughter. I followed this pattern I found on Lion Brand site, and for the red dress I followed a Brazilian pattern .  She loved it so much, unfortunately I never took its picture, and it was passed on.

I have learned to like crochet ever since. I tend to think that when you learn to love something it gets into you, becomes part of who you are, I can’t resist the colors and so many possibilities that are being unwound by crochet and these  great designer minds full of creativity and unlimited new arrangement for the same old stitches.

That is amazing!

I am recently revisiting my Vogue Knitting CROCHET magazine issue for the 100th time.

If you haven’t gotten yours yet, I would reconsider. It certainly is a splash of color and inspiration to say the least.

Gotta go now,

Take care,

Drikka.
