As I move on my new job, it seems to me I have little time to dedicate to my crochet blogs, though I still save some for my crochet adventures, which include a pineapple top -for myself to wear at work, and the completion of my daughter’s pineapple crochet tee.
I am triyng to figure out a way to take a picture of my top it is nice lacy and black, since I left my mannequim back home in Brazil, I have to find out how to give you an idea of how it looks, meanwhile take a look at the last and final version of the tee.
I Liked this edging for its A line kind of shaping, that I secured would be formed by adding a few more chain stitches and a sort of a V in the row prior to the last one.
I made a flower to go with it and it was a wonderful opportunity for me to make some use of this cute buttom I purchased a long time long ago.
I hope you like it as much as I enjoyed making it, and I followed no pattern since I changed a gazzilion times to accomodate her mood changes and mine as well.
So we are here in Vancouver for a few days, and I tried to take my little daughter to the Aquarium like we did last year but unlike that time today the weather did not surprise us with a smiling sun, instead it poured water down on us. Tomorrow we go rain or shine. She is bored in front of the T.V.
Any way I am getting ready for the Summer festival, this will be my first time in a festival with my crafts. I don’t know how to feel about it Don’t know how much is too little, how much is too much because I have no idea how much people spend in these occasions. Let’s see first hand.
I’ve been busy creating some handmade stuff, and light wear crochet, among which some flowers thought you might like to see a sample.
Well most of you know about my love for Canada and the Snow from my “odes” last year in my blog, it is still true. As I come from a hot steaming country, I do look up at snow and its beauty.
We are ever so glad to be able to extand our stay here until next year.
Now I am beginning to think that it might be time for some colors, other than white. Anyway the birds are coming back and they bring more life to what was once in a pause so to speak.
Along with the birds, at school we are working on Spring projects and people at my local mall the Londonderry Mall across the street are starting to purchse and wear more daring colors other than black-white and brown.
Bearing that in mind I started with my Summer projects I found this pattern on line :
And did this little flower, just added some edging to them to make them more ruffled. After I’ll make sure to find a good use for it.
I sure made others later on, just need to take some pics.
Recently many things are going on in my life, I am writing a lot, though not in my blogs, I still think it is worth, so I go on pursuing something that I hope I let you know in the (near?) future.
Anyway, it’s inevitable now, since most shops, TV ads, and even the weather (yes, here in Alberta, too) is changing. I know it is supposed to start to become more green, but up here for us things are just less “white”. Never mind though, I love it here, and the feeling of Spring coming back is so invigorating.
So talking about Spring today I got this newsletter with tons of Spring ideas -read flowers- and free patterns, it is from All free Crochet, they are here for us to enjoy!
As you can see I love crocheting flowers! Here is a sample of mine :
I keep trying to post constantly in my Facebook page is a faster for me, it has many images, free patterns I find on the internet and so, if you haven’t “liked it” yet, please do so you will be able to have even more fresh ideas,’ inspiring’ ones as I like to think of them.
They are full of new ideas, and fresh ones that can boost our imagination make us finish off those yarns already used in some other project, so have fun!
I believe you have seen the crochet flower barrettes I’ve made recently here for my daughter and for the girls here.
It is pretty easy to make, specially once you have done a crochet necklace, don’t like how it comes out, try to figure out what to do with it, and have a daughter with reasonably long hair. They definitely need as many different kinds of barrette they can possibly have!
So enough talking, what you need is a crochet flower string, you can find ideas and patterns here, here and here these crochet atists are so talented I’m sure you will all agree with me or three small crochet flowers.
3 colored mini crochet flowers,
hot glue gun
a “bare” hair barrete
a pair of scissors
First you arrange your flowers the way you believe is the best in the barrette.
Now with the glue gun, glue each flower at a time. Allow a few seconds for each flower to set, then go to the next. When you are done, allow a few more seconds for your wok to be complete.
A few months before coming to Alberta I read somewhere people saying about the heat in Edmonton during the Summer, can’t deny my own thought:
“They do not know what a hot summer is like!”
I must take it back! So they were right! It is hot up here! The fan is on all day long. The only difference is that at night the temperature falls down a bit, and we get to sleep.
At times I do not feel like crocheting, I end up spending the days cooking, doing housework, or even some light reading, as I watch my daughter up and down playing with her friends, sometimes inside the house, or in her small poll in the yard.
There are some wild birds merrily chirping as they come by to gladly find their preferred food my husband daily feeds them, I already counted 17 little ones at once the other day. It is quiet, up here. Opposed to my life August last year in São Paulo. Of course it won’ be like this for long, as soon as her vacation is over I have some projects in mind. Should be fun, to say the least.
So as I said little projects like this is what I have been doing, the very same rose I posted here, and the very same leaf I once gave you the pattern, I sewn them in a hair band and my daughter wears it a lot! Hope you like it and do the same for your little ones too! I used handicraft and hook 5,00 m.
I do hope you are doing fine, as I am, today was my day off and I took it to organize a few things I have here, some of them are a few crochet projects that haven’t been finished yet.
I also took some time to read my posts backwards, I found a request of a reader, I hope she can see it as now I found the time to answer to it properly. she liked the crochet Rose pattern and asked me how to make a leaf and the spiral too.
I decided just for the matter of filing later, to split the instructions in 2, being the first the instructions on how I make the leaves.
I must let you know hat in case you are just a beginner you might find Annie’s Attic instructions really handy
any kind of yarn
a crochet hook compatible to the yarn you are using
chain stitch= ch
slip stitch= sl
half double crochet= hdc
treble or triple crochet=tc
Start with 13 chains. Row 1 – turn your work, make 1 more chain an in the second ch from hook make a sc,*1 hdc in each of the next 2 ch, 1 dc in each of the next 2 chains, 1 tc in the next ch -which will be your 7th chain- 1dc in each of the next 2 chs, 1 hdc in each of your 2 next chains, 1 sc 1ch *and turn your work, do the same stitches you did in the previous row. Row 2– 1sc in each of the next 2 ch and repeat from *to* . In case you want a “firmer” leaf, do one sl in each chain at the back of the initial chain, in its center, it will make the leaf looks even more realistic. I particularly like it.
Fasten off. Make a few and sew the cork/spiral adornment. This pattern is coming soon.
So as I said about two posts ago, I was intrigued about making a nice crochet flower for my Mama Africa lariat/necklace then I came up with this one which I think is nice and plain enough to go with it.
There it is:
I love the neutral color that won’t mix or call our attention too much and thus diverting us from the main attraction that should be the lariat itself.
