Hi everyone,

It sure has been a long time, blame it on the amount of work I’ve had since my promotion, a little over a year ago.

But recently it’s come to my attention that I have a nice little, not so little anymore, fan. My adorable daughter’s friend M. who apparently likes my blog. I haven’t written a post in so long though I couldn’t let the opportunity of saying a big hello to you.

I know you are very gentle, intelligent, creative and really talented girl, go on being this way!

Thank you for being a “fan” of my blog, and also for being such a nice friend to B.!

’till my next post, this one was dedicated to you “M”. I don’t want to write anything else so it does not take away my intention.

Be happy, heregoes a nic little flower to brighten up your days,

Drikka.

Crochet Colourful Purse

Hi everybody,

As I was once again browsing some seriously beautiful crochet, and crafts sites I came across this one and the site is Magic with hook and needles adorable!

http://vendulkam.blogspot.ca/2013/05/crazy-rainbow-bag.html
http://vendulkam.blogspot.ca/2013/05/crazy-rainbow-bag.html

I showed my daughter, because now she is 8 and of course needs a larger purse whenever she is on a spree with her daddy.
I absolutely loved this one though she asked me to make some changes, she is right not only because she is not a grown up but most importantly I like to give things my personal touch. So I followed the multi color idea, the ‘patchwork’ kind of style, I adored the colours she initially used so I stuck to them and changed some little thing here and there, it is almost coming to an end, so take a peak before I go ahead and do the lining.

Huge hug and a hundred smiles… here comes 2014!

Hugs and smiles, that’s how I was saluted when I finally got back to the weekly meeting my husband takes part in, as his post doctoral research up here in Canada I had being away for over 2 months, too much huh?

We’ve been here for a period of 2 years and 4 months now. My daughter couldn’t be happpier as she now has friends who seem more like relatives, they are so bond together, fight and play almost daily, just like friends and sort of like family tends to be.

I am doing well at my job, I started off as a sales associate, and moved on to another position that gives me a little bit more of flexibility. I liked the idea of having a place to go, making some money to help with the bills, and still be able to take care of my daughter. That was the plan. I got acquainted with some people that I like to call “friends” it is good for my heart.

My life has turned around from being a busy ESL instructor in Companies (back home in São Paulo), who made a significant amount of money weekly for over 20 years and did not work so hard, to this.

Along with that I still volunteer, which allows me to get in touch with what I really like that is teaching, I read with the kids, we do some work, it is fun.So I also take part of the teachers on their weekly meetings to stay tuned and speak the same language, one can never learn enough of what it is this passion that is being a teacher. It is a breath of fresh air to me.

There we go my dear friends, one more year here unfolding at our very own feet, right here, right this minute, what will become of it depends on many factors, such as decisions we make, resolutions, our fate, our faith, the steps we actually take. Above all and yet within us I strongly believe there is God.

So HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OF US!

                                    Be happy my friends,

                                           Be crafty!

Kids tee -pineapple crochet adventure part 2 and last

So my dear ones,

As I move on my new job, it seems to me I have little time to dedicate to my crochet blogs, though I still save some for my crochet adventures, which include a pineapple top -for myself to wear at work, and the completion of my daughter’s pineapple crochet tee.

I am triyng to figure out a way to take a picture of my top it is nice lacy and black, since I left my mannequim back home in Brazil, I have to find out how to give you an idea of how it looks, meanwhile take a look at the last and final version of the tee.

I Liked this edging for its A line kind of shaping, that I secured would be formed by adding a few more chain stitches and a sort of a V in the row prior to the last one.

I made a flower to go with it and it was a wonderful opportunity for me to make some use of this cute buttom I purchased a long time long ago.

I hope you like it as much as I enjoyed making it, and I followed no pattern since I changed a gazzilion times to accomodate her mood changes and mine as well.

Kids tee crochet pineapple adventure

Hi every one,

I decided it was time for me to find a little job, and do something in crochet too! I am working again and at the same time want to take advantage of the Summer and work on this project. So I tried this edging to finish up a crochet tee for my daughter.
I didn’t like the final result. It seemed to tighten up her waist and she already is slim. I thought about not only undo the top part of it as well as the edging, I believe it will look way better, but before I unraveled everything I decided to show you, the edging pattern is really nice but not for what I intended. For the tee I don’t have any patten it is just “poping up my mind”

Pattern for the edging:

You will realize I changed the shells I didn’t work the 3 dc cluster, instead I did 2 dc 1ch 2dc.

Then I’ll just go back to my crochet and hope i can come back here with a better final project!

take care you all,

Love and Soul

It is not rare to me to find the need to talk about LOVE, to its largest extent. Say I love Love.

Love does hurt sometimes, though we usually find out later that was not love but Passion. And yet passion is a practice to love.

Unconditional love is almost impossible, for if my beloved husband has an affair this to me will not be acceptable.

Eternal love is desirable, though as the years fly by people change, so if you do not find the reason why you too are hung together, there might be a chance that the person you became, or the other party, will tear up what once was the reason for being together.

We change. The Universe changes. So bearing this and so many other topics relate to this in -my- mind I would like to invite you to follow my new page that has nothing to do with pure material crafts, but a lot to do with the Art of Love, please don’t read a Kama Sutra kind of love for I never learned much about it.

Mentioning the books I read and base my ideas upon: by Leo Buscaglia Love, Living Loving Learning, Loving each other,Bus 9 to Paradise and Born to love; Louise Hay  Heal your body, You can heal your life, Heart thoughts, Love your body; Are you the one for me by Barbara D’ Angelis, Men are from Mars women are from Venus by  John Gray, and many others I can’t remember as of now.

So let’s embark this journey I hope to be fun.

I let’s talk about what moves us, our feeling, fears and thoughts. Hoping it to be a pretty interactive page: Pelase visit and bookmark: Love and Soul.

Marina mini-crochet dress- for those BFF bears

Hello again,
After the last small cushion cover, last week I also worked on this project. It so happens that my daughter loves her Marina, Fresh Beat band, crochet dress I made for her before Christmas, if it was up to her she would wear it every other day. I don’t let her to, but she does wear it often.
Now that she got this BFF bear, a Spring sensation she got for her birthday at build a bear workshop, she also wanted her friend Lizzy to have a matching dress for herself. I did it, since I put up the pattern for the child’s one, I really didn’t find much trouble putting this one together.

Hope you like how it came out:

Yeah, see you later on,

take care,

Easter bunny is here, I mean it!

Hello my friends!

Starting with the Valentine’s day in the middle of February we go on with our lovely projects into the so expected and already mentioned Spring.

Let just say Spring is in the air, last year I thought the Easter bunny had come by night to visit us, the paw prints have proven to be of a cat in reality, well this year I saw the bunny, sneaked behind the curtains and Voila! No one can think it is a mistake, here is the pic for you.

Up above there him is a bird house, and because these birds (sparrows) did not migrate, we kept on feeding them, so all through the Winter they had a place to come,

so did their friend the bunny. This made my daughter really happy, she knew now the Easter bunny had been well fed, so he would like to come for Easter and make sure she was glad too!

So I thought you would like to see,

Back on crochet track

Hi,

I hope you all had the most wonderful holidays, mine  was so nice!

We enjoyed each and every moment of it. For Christmas eve we did visit a couple of friends, spent the loveliest afternoon, before rushing to the church where my husband, despite not being religious, played beautiful tunes with his trio Voila! Though they have been playing as a trio no longer than a year, the 3 of them have large experience and share true passion for music!

My daughter simply loved the play at the church when she could actually learn how “Jesus was born” . We had a nice dinner out and since she slept on the way back home she only saw what Santa had left her on the following day the 25th. She loved it.

Santa really knows best, since it was not got what she had asked for – in secrecy and not told a soul, but “Magic Santa”- he really figured out what she needed indeed. On that spent the most delicious day at the dearest friends as well.

So with the burden of offering a Merry Christmas to her, out of the way we could relax and enjoy visiting more and more friends, socializing and having lots of fun. They the mentioned trio even made a delightful concert on January 2nd, which was full of life and talent! We are now so invigorated for this New Year to come.

I know I failed telling you this, but my husband had been invited to renew his research and we are now spending one more year here that means up until 2014. Isn’t it interesting?

So with that being said I have to go now! see you pretty soon with a few surprises I hope!

Happy New Year!

Drikka.
